On July 8, 2009 in one of those rare moments of clarity that Mr. Courtney enjoys, he CO-SPONSORED H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.

H.R. 1207 is the audit the Federal Reserve bill co-sponsored by a whopping 320 congressmen and women and supported by the vast majority of the American people.

Wednesday, on a vote to include H.R. 1207 in a separate bill (the big government H.R. 4173 Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act which Mr. Courtney supports), he voted against his own CO-SPONSORED bill.

Is there anyway, anyone could explain this? Was it pressure from his party’s leadership? From the White House?

Daria Novak, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Connecticut’s 2^nd District, announced today she will appear at the Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, CT to launch the next phase of her campaign after successfully winning the Republican Party’s endorsement at the recent Connecticut state convention.  Join us for the “Eve of Destruction” event and meet Daria!

“We are taking my campaign to the voters and giving them an opportunity to ask me questions and get to know where I stand on issues that are important to them, so they feel comfortable voting for me in November,” said Novak.  “I am thrilled to be launching the next phase of my campaign at the Thompson International Speedway this Sunday, May 30^th because it is a great example of entrepreneurial spirit and how one family turned hard times into future opportunity here in the 2^nd District.”

Jonathan Hoenig, a 4^th generation member of the Thompson International Speedway management team, said “We are pleased to do whatever we can to support Daria and help her take back this seat from Joe Courtney.  We need someone in office committed to small businesses, job growth, and reducing the size of government – all key factors impacting us here in the 2^nd District,” said Hoenig.
